About sHIREEN
My path to life skills education is not typical. I have not made my way here from teaching, but rather from having employed, trained, managed and mentored young people throughout my career.
I started my career in investment banking and then moved into the startup world, working with a number of technology start ups, co-founding and running my own business and more recently as a consultant supporting startups. One unifying thread throughout my career was that I mentored young people formally and informally. I began to see time and again that too many young people were entering the adult world lacking soft skills that could have helped them navigate this world with greater ease, wellbeing and success (whatever their personal definition of success).
It is also personal too, because despite a great academic education I had also been one of those young people, struggling with self-esteem, an unhelpful fixed mindset, lacking resilience and the tools to help myself understand, set and work towards my goals in a productive way. I had to learn a lot of these skills myself, the hard way.
My mission, and my passion, is to help young build these skills in a way that makes them more resilient and happier than they would have been.
I am an International Coaching Federation (ICF) accredited coach (ACC), with specialist training in child and adolescent coaching. I am also trained to deliver The Other Subject, a series of coaching programmes and workshops put together by the UK’s leading school coaches designed to help pupils and staff be happier, healthier and more productive.
